We have been established since 2003, based in the Northeast of England and the longest serving specialist BSL/English Interpreting/ Translation service in the region led by Deaf and hearing people.

Whatever your event looks like, perhaps a job interview, a wedding, a community event or maybe you are looking for a team of people for a conference or even to have your information made accessible on your websites or leaflets – we can help!

Our friendly team of Deaf and hearing professionals offer you a wealth of cultural knowledge and useful advice.

What we provide

We specialise in a full range of language services including:

  • British Sign Language/ English Interpreters (with a wide range of skills, training, qualifications)
  • Lipspeakers
  • Deafblind Interpreters (BSL Hands on, Deafblind Manual, BSL Visual Frame)
  • Speech to Text Operators (STTR)
  • Notetakers
  • Remote video interpreting
  • And more…

Our Interpreters are registered with the largest national Register of Language Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind people. They adhere to the code of ethic – change to ethics, continuing professional development and complaints procedure outlined by this organisation. Additionally, they are also fully insured, DBS checked and members of the relevant professional bodies and, as such, are safe to undertake their work. This is to safeguard you.

What we do

We offer both fixed-term contracts and occasional/ad hoc bookings. Our aim is to match the needs and requirements of each individual and/or organisation.

One-off events / Regular bookings

We are currently sub-contracted to provide interpreting for the NHS. Furthermore, we have numerous long-term contracts with clients from the public, private and voluntary sectors. Our approach priorities quality and flexibility to suit our client’s needs and budgets. We do take block bookings at the client’s request.

We do many one-off events such as job interviews, benefit claims, weddings, solicitors meetings, mortgage appointments and many more. Just discuss your requirements with us and we can advise.

If you would like to make a booking or ask for a quote, please get in touch.

Work/Businesses

We offer a specific Access to Work service to employers, employees and self-employers. We always start with some initial discussions to get to know you and to find out about your requirements. This could be face to face, on the telephone, FaceTime, via email or online video chat – whichever way you prefer! This is followed up with an agreed package that suits you.

We keep in regular contact to monitor how things are going and we encourage clients to give us feedback at any time.

For no extra charge, we can provide support with ATW paperwork as we understand that this can be time consuming. We are here to support you in doing your job and by us doing the ATW paperwork for you it allows you to focus on the job you are employed to do in the knowledge that the ATW administration is being carried out correctly.

Students

Whether you are in further or higher education, we can provide you with interpreters, speech-to-text operators and notetakers to support your studies. There are a range of funding options to enable you to buy in a service. Please contact us for more information.
