It was a fantastic turnout for the BSLBT Showcase at St James’ Park Newcastle on Thursday 2nd May 2013.
Steven Wynne, outreach worker for BSLBT, showed three films – all with a North East connection. Gateshead’s Simon Herdman’s film ‘You and Me’ told the story of a little girl’s reaction when she finds out her Deaf school is closing and her joy when she discovers Santa can sign! Benton’s broadcasting veteran Bob Duncan, for once in front of the camera, starred as an alien obsessed father in ‘Life out There.’ The final treat was a cookery programme starring Stockton’s Scott Garthwaite as his alter ego the Punk Chef. Scott, Simon and Bob attended the evening and, to the delight of the audience, all three took part in Q and A sessions at the end of each film.
Also on hand were researcher Ashley Kendall, producer Erika Levi and director David Ellington.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening show casing some fantastic North East talent.
